Dogtra 1900NCP Field Star 1/2 mile Training Collar Review
The Dogtra 1900NCP Field Star ½ mile Training Collar is Dogtra’s premier product. It is designed for usage with pets, sports dogs, and is even used for training dogs in police k-9 units. The collar is very precise as the owner is able to tune the power of the shock. There are 127 different levels of stimulation, meaning there is a level for any dog, no matter how stubborn. The system is waterproof so you don’t need to worry about damage to the collar or the dog; and the system is effective from a range of about 1/2 a mile. The receiver is rechargeable and comes with three different settings: nick, continuous, and pager. Nick means pressing the button delivers a small quick burst of stimulation, continuous means the stimulation will continue as long as the owner holds the button down, and pager means the collar will simply vibrate giving non electric stimulation. The collar like most e collars for dogs comes with replaceable and rechargeable batteries. The collar also has an illuminated LCD screen so you can know precisely what the collar is set to.
I really liked the Dogtra 1900NCP Field Star ½ mile Training Collar and I’ll explain why, I have a 16 month old German Sheppard in that weighs about 70 pounds. As anyone who has owned a German Sheppard knows they are quite energetic and don’t tire easily (in stark contrast to my 3 year old golden retriever who seeps to do nothing but sleep). His energy means that I often take him to a nearby dog park to throw the ball in a big sandpit. Normally he is great but when people are around he has issues. He is very friendly and tends to run up to people and in a few cases has knocked some people over. I didn’t want to risk him hurting anyone (or them hurting him) but I also can’t just walk around with a leash on him. So I looked what the best e collar for high energy dogs would be and I found this one. I began to use this collar, whenever he would begin to run towards people I would all for him to come back to me, and if he didn’t listen I would use the collar, this would get his attention and I would call him back. He has since stopped running towards people and I can now walk him around without a leash, even with the collar set to pager mode. My major complaint with this collar would be that the rechargeable batteries seem to die pretty quickly, and constantly buying new batteries can be expensive and the half mile range can be limiting sometimes.
Overall this product, despite a short battery life, is a great tool for training dogs and is a great e collar for dogs. Definitely worth the money if you have a stubborn, high energy dog. Dogtra 1900NCP Field Star 1/2 mile Training Collar Review
